Keeping a holy Lent

Artist: Margret Hofheinz-Döring

Hmmm. Has anybody ever thought of giving up hurry for Lent?
"To be impatient is to be hooked on the future."

All of the great spiritual teachers I've ever studied have emphasized the importance and, indeed, the holiness of the present moment. May I suggest that we use whatever Lenten discipline we may have chosen as a way of helping us be truly mindful of the here and now.

  1. This is SO appropriate for me right now! In fact, I am going to email it to my physical therapist who has been cautioning me on getting caught back into busy-ness as I start to recover from my shoulder surgery.

  2. I'm so glad you like it, Jan. It certainly caught MY attention!

All the best with regard to your poor shoulder, okay?

  3. Thanks, Ellie. I'm going to have to borrow this and post about something I did through hurrying around, which has set me back a little bit in recovery. Guess I'll do that tomorrow!
