The Baal Shem Tov said many marvelous things. Here's one that is particularly lovely:
The world is new to us each morning — that is the Lord's gift, and we should believe we are reborn each day.
When I was in the convent, we were taught to consider that each night when we went to sleep was a death and then waking up in the morning was resurrection - rebirth!
It's a wonderful way to live. Truly.
It seems to me very important to grasp the way our lives are divided into days and to understand that in one sense "there is only today".
ReplyDeleteNot that that is quite what you are saying but agree with your convent, sleep is like a mini-death, and the morning does feel like rebirth.
