True homage

Oh my, oh my, oh my. Please look:

If God said,

"Rumi, pay homage to everything
that has helped you
enter my
arms,"

there would not be one experience of my life,
not one thought, not one feeling,
not any act, I
would not
bow
to.

-- Rumi

People, if we took this on board, really integrated this understanding into the depths of our being, it would revolutionize our lives. Yes.

  1. I love Rumi. At times I have felt like this, that I would not change anything, because every mistake and blunder that I wish I could erase has brought me here, and this is where I have to be.

  2. Thank you for saying that, Alice. I feel exactly the same way although I don't think I call it mind nearly often enough.

Oh, yes. I love Rumi as well. I had not come across this particular piece of verse until today, however.

  3. I have not seen this before either. But, I totally agree with him and you - if we could only integrate this. This one should be commited to memory and spoken each day.

  4. There is plenty in my life I wouldn't pay homage to and that has not done anything to make me a better person.
To the idea that "there would not be one experience of my life,
not one thought, not one feeling,
    not any act, I
    would not
    bow
to." I can only say, "That would be my definition of a true Saint with a capital letter." And I don't believe in true Saint's with a capital letter.

In the mind of the Judeo/Christian community King David was the most beloved of God. But I would hope he wouldn't have ever thought of bowing to sending sending Uriah to his death in order to cover his adultery with Bathsheba.
