The power of empathy

Artist: Alexej Kondratjewitsch Sawrassow

All right. The following is actually a Zen koan but just think about it for a while and I think it will come to you why I put it here.
One day Chao-chou fell down in the snow and called out, "Help me up! Help me up!" A monk came and lay down beside him Chao-chou got up and went away.

  1. OK, I'll bite...

The monks presence and silent encouragement gave Chou chou the energy to get up...?

  2. You want me to get up and go away.

  3. Yeah, something along those lines, Annie!

    Tom: Huh???

I take it you're joking. I guess it's too late right now for my poor brain to get it!

  4. I will not physically help you to do something you have the power to do yourself. I will be with you until you discover the power is within yourself.
Too many words but couldn't figure out a shorter interpretation.
