Henry Finlay (May 1, '95 - May 5, '09)

Henry Finlay

My wonderful, wonderful cat, Henry, died "the good death" peacefully in my arms around 12:30 PM today.

His kidneys had failed and he had stopped eating and drinking. It was time.

Henry was magnificent in every way - genuinely beautiful, possessed of great dignity, and more affectionate than any other cat who has ever shared my life. He specialized in nose kisses and ear nuzzles! He was the "old man" of the family and never lost his "top kitty" status --- even after he got sick.

I am, of course, grief stricken - especially losing him so soon after my beloved Izzy.

But I am grateful and always will be. Grateful to have had the opportunity to give him a forever home when he needed one and even more grateful for all the emotional and spiritual support he has given me for thirteen years now.

Rest in peace my sweet boy. You are purring for the angels now.

  1. oh my dear,
how truly sad to lose such a remarkable companion & family member - may you be comforted by the grace and love you shared.

  2. Dear Ellie,

I hope that my person realizes in me the qualities and friendship you have attributed to your beloved Henry. It seems that the most loving thing you could do for him was just what you did and that was to let him go. My person promises she will do the same for me but it gives her a big lump in her throat to say that and to feel the hole that you feel in your heart today.

  3. (((((((((((( Ellie ))))))))))))

If dogs get golden tails in heaven then I am sure cats do too. But it is so hard to let go.

    A huge cyberhug!

  4. Thank you, all!

Riley, I can tell from your blog that you are a fine, fine doggie! Henry loved doggies - especially his Izzy (who made the great transition quite recently). I know Izzy and Henry are happy together again and will be just fine until we can all join them.

  5. Hi Ellie,

Sorry to be so late to post this. I am sure that Henry is purring for the angels now as he has on earth for so many years and he is waiting for Chonda and me and all the rest of us.

Blessings and love to you, Henryetta, and Leroy.

    Vicki & Chonda
