A turning of the soul

Artist: Pieter Bruegel the Elder

This is by Samuel H. Miller from his book, The Dilemma of Modern Belief. I do agree. Glory. Glory.
"In the muddled mess of this world, in the confusion and boredom and amazement, we ought to be able to spot something — an event, a person, a memory, an act, a turning of the soul, the flash of bright wings, the surprise of sweet compassion — somewhere we ought to pick out a glory to celebrate."

  1. Maybe that's why I've been doing a lot of reminiscing lately. Seems most of the glory days are in the past for me and for the country in which I live.

  2. Well, I know what you mean, Tom. And I do think that about the country a lot.

Still there are other things - glorious sunsets, for example - and what Miller says here: "the surprise of sweet compassion".
